Respecting the Biodiversity of Life

On this episode, we are celebrating International Day of Biological Diversity. Biological diversity is the variety of lifeforms that exist on our planet – not just plants and animals but microorganisms, funghi, genes, ecosystems. All these different forms of life interact in complex ways that we don’t even have full comprehension of, and every living organism has an effect on the world. It is important that we all take some time to consider biodiversity and see what we can do to help support it. I truly believe we all have the capacity to create change.

“You will not always be able to solve all of the world’s problems at once, but don’t ever underestimate the importance you can have. History has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own.”

~ MICHELLE OBAMA ~

When sea otters are present, it has been found that the amount of carbon held in Giant Kelp Forests can be up to 13 times more. Check out this study that shows how with the loss of just one species, whole ecosystems can either be lost or transformed into less diverse ecosystems.
